I AM YOUR FLAG

I AM YOUR FLAG

How it hurts

When you disrespect me.

Instead of saluting

You take a knee.

I have stood on the battlefield

And been torn to tatters.

But for you I was there,

And that is what should matter.

I wave where you place me,

Lawn, building or pole.

Trying to show love

For this country so bold.

My stars show the states

That in this country belong.

My stripes represent

The colonies that made us strong.

I have been in more wars

Then there should ever be.

I have seen more hurt,

Then one should ever see.

I have been roughly dragged

And burned with flame.

Because of politicians

People think I am to blame.

I am just a flag

Formed of beautiful cloth.

Our countries symbol

Of what has been won or lost.

So, whenever I wave

So all can see,

Please salute me

And do not take a knee.
